Het Ruiterhuys

Huysgemaakt,fresh every day.

Fresh, homemade and ‘simply good’. We work with local meat suppliers and fresh seasonal produce: artisan meat and a generous choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes.

For every moment
of the day.

From the children who visit our animals to the walker who drops by every week for homemade apple pie, and from a quick lunch to an evening out: whenever you join us, you can count on good service and a lovely atmosphere.

A small black tabletop grill with Japanese characters on the side stands in the middle of an oak table; the coals glow beneath the steel grate. On top lies a single thick slice of beef, deeply marbled and still raw. In the foreground on the left, out of focus, a glass of red wine; on the right a knife and fork, and at the bottom right a small steel saucepan with sauce.

Did you know we dry-age our own meat?

In our dry-ageing cabinet the meat is given all the time it needs to mature naturally. This gives it a rich, intense flavour and makes it wonderfully tender, just as you would expect from a fine piece of quality meat.

What the season
has to offer.

Our lunch and dinner menu changes with the seasons; twice a year there is a special menu alongside it.

What comes to the table.

Two tree-trunk slices side by side on a long oak table. On the left the sweet: a raisin scone, little tarts with a swirl of cream shaped like a pumpkin, a glossy green dessert shaped like a pear, and small bowls of red jam and whipped cream. On the right the savoury: croissants, soft rolls with half a fig on a cocktail stick, and toasted sandwiches with tomato and lettuce. At the front two small glasses of orange soup with cream and seeds and two glasses of orange juice with lemon, at the back a small vase of orange Chinese lanterns and a card, and empty grey plates on either side.

Between them two small glasses of orange soup with a dollop of cream and pumpkin seeds. On the right a small glass vase of red Chinese lanterns, top left a tall glass of orange juice with a slice of lemon, and at the back an empty grey plate with cutlery. Sunlight falls in stripes across the rough oak tabletop.

On top the sweet and the warm: custard tarts, a crispy croquette, two small glasses of panna cotta and an orange mousse, a little dish of strawberries with melon, and a pain au chocolat. On the middle tier a croissant and small tarts, on the bottom charcuterie, cheese and olives. Beside it a tea light, a small vase of orange Chinese lanterns, a standing menu card, a cocktail with a dried fruit slice, and a plate of salad next to cutlery on a dark blue napkin.

Coming with a group?

For larger tables the whole party menu is ready, each option with its own dishes.

A long dark wooden table laid for a sit-down dinner: wine and water glasses, loosely folded linen napkins, tea lights in ribbed glasses and a small arrangement with a deep red dahlia, with brown leather tub chairs along the table.
